Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane apparently asked an Ipswich Town fan to meet him “in the car park” during a fiery clash following a 1-1 draw at Portman Road.

The confrontation occurred when Keane left the broadcast area, where he and his teammates – Kelly Cates, Izzy Christensen and Jamie Redknapp – had positioned themselves to approach a fan who had come down from the stands. Keane appeared to gesture towards the pitch during a terse exchange before returning to a murmur of derision from the Ipswich fans.

According to Online mailone fan took it further, shouting from above, “Fuck you Keane,” as the production crew wheeled him back into his seat. New footage published online shows the former Republic of Ireland midfielder asking a fan to meet him in the parking lot.

“Bullying me is not a problem… (inaudible). Meet me in the parking lot to discuss it,” Keane says. “I’ll wait for you in the parking lot, I’ll wait for you in the parking lot.”

Keane then moves back to his pitch-side position with security and members of the Sky Sports team intervening, before Redknapp can be heard saying: “Just leave it.”

The 53-year-old was previously in charge at Portman Road but left his position in 2021 with the Tractor Boys finishing 21st in the championship. This isn’t Keane’s first unpleasant encounter as a pundit. In August, he mentioned that he wanted to leave his position as an expert within the next ten years.

According to the report, he referred to unpleasant incidents such as an altercation during which he was head-butted by an Arsenal fan at the Emirates Stadium last season. Mirror.

Reflecting on these experiences, Keane noted: “I love football, but the problems with the games, getting to the games and the problems with the fans. A few months ago I was in court when someone headbutted me. Do you think I like this side of the sport? Absolutely not.

“The matches are fine. Getting to games, parking, people shouting your name are good things, bad things are a nuisance. Not being an expert in 10 years.”
