Footage shows Roy Keane’s ‘heated confrontation’ with fan after Ipswich Town v Man United – Man Utd match

Roy Keane became involved in a heated confrontation with an Ipswich Town fan following the draw with Manchester United at Portman Road.

Keane was present to give his expert opinion Heavenly sports in the two clubs where he was previously employed, winning seven First league titles from United before subsequent management Ipswich for less than two years, in 2009–2011.

The Irishman won 28 of his 81 matches in charge of the Tractor Boys and did not have a particularly positive relationship with much of the club’s fanbase.

This was clearly visible on Sunday, in footage shot during a commercial break and published by: Daily Mail. showing Keane putting his microphone down and his hands in his pockets before walking up to confront the fan who was hurling insults at him.

After a brief exchange, Keane was then led back to the pitchside panel station and calmly waited for the program to resume.

According to a report from “Daily Mail”, one fan ran from the upper tier and shouted: “Fuck you, Keane!” at him.

In the second video, filmed much closer to the exchange, a fan told Keane: “You’re a better expert than a manager!”

In response, the 53-year-old said: “I’ll wait for you in the parking lot and we can discuss it!” as security tried to de-escalate the situation.

Finally, Keane’s expert Jamie Redknapp he walked over and could be heard telling fans: “Just leave it.”

In June A the man was found guilty of common assault on Keane after allegedly hitting his head while Keane was commenting on Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium in September 2023.

CCTV footage shared online shows pundit Micah Richards jumping in to defend Keane, who said he was “in shock” after the clash.

Keane claimed he suffered bruises to his arms and chest as a result of the altercation.

Scott Law (43) was given a 12-month payback order, banned from entering football pitches for three years and ordered to pay £650 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

Sky Sports declined to comment when approached by SPORTbible.
