Partial crash causes closure at Parley’s Canyon

PARLEY’S CANYON, Utah — A semi-crash closed the westbound lane of I-80 Sunday morning, forcing drivers to make a U-turn.

The Utah Highway Patrol tells FOX 13 News a westbound semi left the roadway and struck a concrete barrier around 7:30 a.m. The truck then overturned and caught fire, prompting crews from Unified Fire and other agencies to immediately extinguish the flames and contain the fuel leak.

There were two people in a semicircle. They were transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

Westbound lanes remain closed at the time of reporting. Drivers are being directed to alternate routes, and UDOT is recommending that semi-trucks not enter Emigration Canyon.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
