An FIR was registered at Sambhal police station following violent clashes in the district triggered by the Jama Masjid poll. The incident, which involved stone pelting and police baton, left four people dead and 21 others injured. Following the riots, police charged local Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders, including MP Ziaur Rahman Barq and MLA Nawab Iqbal Mahmood’s son Nawab Suhail Iqbal, for allegedly conspiring to incite violence.

The brutal incident took place on Sunday morning when a team arrived to investigate the Jama Masjid. As soon as the team arrived at the venue, a large crowd gathered and quickly became unruly. In an attempt to control the situation, the police resorted to charging batons, but the tension further escalated. The crowd began throwing stones at the police, leading to intense clashes. The violence left four people dead and 21 others injured. The situation worsened, prompting the authorities to take immediate action.

Following the riot, district officials imposed restrictions on the movement of outsiders into the area and ordered schools to close to prevent further escalation. Police detained 24 people in connection with the incident and an investigation is ongoing, including an analysis of videos that may have helped fuel the violence.

The FIR lodged against Ziaur Rahman Barq and Nawab Suhail Iqbal accuses them of orchestrating a deliberate conspiracy to incite communal violence and gather a crowd. The case includes charges of inciting riots, organizing illegal meetings and promoting riots. The involvement of others is also ongoing and law enforcement is closely reviewing the situation.

As tensions remain high in Sambhal, authorities are closely monitoring developments in the hope of restoring peace and preventing further unrest in the region.
