The owner of the real estate agency allegedly consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel of his car on August 27.

It said 62-year-old William Teng Guan How of WRJ & Associates drove his vehicle into the swimming pool at Seletar Country Club that day around 9:40 p.m.

On November 22, Teng was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and endangering others by reckless driving.

Court documents show that on August 27, around 10 p.m., he was found to have at least 63 micrograms (mcg) of alcohol in 100 ml of exhaled air.

This is almost twice the legal limit of 35 mcg of alcohol in 100 ml of breath.

Teng’s case will be brought up again in court on December 19.

For driving under the influence of alcohol, a first-time offender can be sentenced to up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

A repeat offender can be sentenced to up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.
