Palm Coast man accused of threatening inspection workers with a machete

A Palm Coast man has been accused of threatening to attack inspection workers with a machete while they were temporarily blocking a road.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said on October 23, 43-year-old Miguel Rodriguez became upset because employees of a stormwater inspection and maintenance company were temporarily blocking Belle Terre Parkway and Kaywood Place in Palm Coast.

Deputies said employees told them Rodriguez drove around their workplace, got out of his truck with a machete and yelled at them, “I’m going to chop up some motherfuckers.”

One employee told FCSO he feared for his life and hid from Rodriguez in a wooded area.

Rodriguez allegedly got back into his truck and left the scene when he noticed traffic starting to back up.

FCSO said they located Rodrigues three miles away on Zerington Court with several machetes in his truck, one of which was on the dashboard.

In an interview with deputies, Rodriguez stated that employees stopped him and he was upset that he didn’t see any warning signs, even though employees said there were several.

The report noted that while Rodriguez was being detained in the patrol car, he repeatedly hit his head on the partition, causing a cut.

Rodriguez was charged with assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
