Father of missing Hawaii woman found dead in Los Angeles

Father Missing Hawaii woman Hannah Kobayashi he died two weeks after his daughter’s disappearance.

On Sunday, November 24, Ryan Kobayashi was found dead in the parking lot at ul Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed. He was 58 years old.

No information about the cause of death was provided.

For KTLA, NBC Los Angeles AND ABC NewsMr. Kobayashi’s body was found in a parking lot near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Sunday morning around 4 a.m. local time, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

The LAPD and Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s offices did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s contacts.

AND GoFundMe organized on behalf of Li Jaena, Ryan Kobayashi’s fiancée, paid tribute.

“Ryan Kobayashi flew to Los Angeles immediately after learning of Hannah’s disappearance. Unfortunately, Ryan is no longer with us, and we are all devastated and speechless,” the post added.

“If you would like to support Li directly, this GoFundMe will help her through this devastating time,” the message reads. “Ryan was my uncle – a truly extraordinary person who lit up every room with his positivity and kind heart.”

“Since Hannah’s disappearance, he has been living his absolute worst nightmare, and now with his death, our family is dealing with unimaginable grief,” the message added.

Hannah’s aunt, Larie Pidgeon, previously told PEOPLE that the 30-year-old left Maui on Friday, November 8 and was scheduled to board a connecting flight to New York at LAX, but was late due to a short layover.

Pidgeon said Hannah contacted another aunt, Geordan Montalvo, and told her he missed his flight and was trying to rebook.

The missing woman was supposed to go to the bookstore on Saturday, November 9 around noon and returned to LAX that evening, telling Montalvo that trying to get on another flight was a “nightmare” but that she was still trying to get there.

The family stated that they confirmed sightings of Hannah in Los Angeles the following day, but on Monday, November 11, they began receiving disturbing messages from her.

“I think someone is trying to steal my identity. I’m really scared,” Hannah wrote in a text message, among other things: other disturbing news. As Pidgeon told PEOPLE, Hannah’s last pinned location was at LAX around 4 p.m. local time on November 11. That day, the family confirmed that they saw Hannah and an unidentified person boarding the train, but she was reported not to have been seen since leaving for Pico Station.

Ryan Kobayashi was one of the family members who traveled to Los Angeles as part of the search for their missing daughter.

While talking to the crowd at a rally near the Crypto.com Arena, not far from where Hannah was last seen on Thursday, November 21, Pidgeon urged people: “Please don’t stop saying her name, Hannah Kobayashi,” per KTLA.

Ryan said at the rally: “She’s a beautiful girl inside and out. Just reach out if you can at all.
