UP man poisoned twin girls and then took his own life after his wife abandoned them in Bhadohi

Bhadohi (UP), November 25 (PTI): A man distraught after his wife abandoned him allegedly poisoned his 14-month-old twin daughters before ending his life in Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police said.

The incident took place in Ugapur area when 27-year-old Omprakash Yadav allegedly mixed poison in milk and fed it to his daughters Aashi and Priyashi, said Station House Officer (SHO) Ajit Kumar Srivastava.

“On November 21, Yadav filed a missing report against his wife, Sangam Yadav. She left their house, leaving him alone with his daughters. This appears to have caused him severe mental disturbance,” Srivastava said.

According to the SHO, Yadav first tried to hang himself in the house but later left the house around 7 am.

He was spotted 500 meters away, near Ganesh Chandra Laudar Inter College, but no one suspected anything, Srivastava added.

People who entered the college premises later discovered his body hanging from a tree and informed his family, he added.

The officer said that after visiting his house, they found the bodies of the twins, prompting them to alert the police.

“The three bodies were sent for post-mortem and the forensic team took a milk sample for analysis. Further investigation is on,” Srivastava said.
