The government urged students to remain calm and not engage in any clashes.

“If any incitement is found behind such clashes, strict action will be taken,” Chief Advisor Shafiqul Alam’s press secretary said today (November 25) in the wake of clashes that broke out between students of several colleges in Dhaka city.

Talking to BSS, Shafiqul Alam said that the government was monitoring the recent clashes that took place in several educational institutions.

“We call on students to remain calm and not engage in any clashes,” the press secretary said.

He said the government was investigating whether there was any provocation behind such clashes.

Alam warned that any attempt to create instability in any part of the country, including educational institutions, would be met with severe resistance.

Earlier in the day, students of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) clashed with students of Kabi Nazrul Government College and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.

Managing principal of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC), Ashraf Samir, in a press release, claimed that three students were killed in the clashes.

Yesterday, students of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Molla College vandalized the main gate of Dhaka National Medical College and Hospital (DNMCH) in Old Dhaka, alleging medical malpractice and irregularities in the treatment of 18-year-old student Abhijit Halder, who died during treatment.

A clash broke out between students of Bangladesh Textile University (BUTEX) and Dhaka University of Technology last night. At least 20 students injured in the clash were treated at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
