RFK Jr says Trump’s move is something no other president has done before

Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. he praised former President Trump plans to self-fund its change, arguing that it is something that has never been done before.

“Typically, the transition team is not formed until November 6 because GAO, the General Accounting Office, covers all costs for the transition team. Trump said: ‘I won’t do it this time. I won’t do it». I’ll do it my way. Three months in advance, I will start my own transition team. And he got private donors to fund him,” Kennedy said at a Trump-Vance campaign event over the weekend.

The comments came after Trump appeared on Joe Rogan’s popular podcast where he discussed some of the mistakes he made during his first term run for president in 2016, including placing people on his team in positions he later regretted.

This time, Trump started the process of privately financing his transition early, hoping to learn from his experience and act on a plan if he secured an election victory.

Trump faced a barrage of criticism last week over comments made by some former officials in his administration, with former Trump chief of staff John Kelly telling the New York Times that his former boss met the definition of a fascist and at times praising the German dictator Adolf Hitler.

Trump denied praising Hitler and in response to the interview sharply criticized Kelly, calling his former chief of staff a “freak.”

In August, Trump announced that Kennedy, who dropped an independent presidential bid this year and endorsed the former president, would be added to his transition team along with former Democrat Republican Tulsi Gabbard, who crossed party lines to support Trump in 2024.

Kennedy argued that such a broad group of supporters helping with the transition would be an advantage if Trump won the election.

“There are people on the transition team from all sorts of ideologies and people that we’re going to have to face on the transition team and fight for our vision,” Kennedy said. “But I can tell you something that is unique: there are no corporate lobbyists on this transformation team. They are usually 100% corporate lobbyists. So it’s a very, very different situation and it gives me a lot of hope that this government is going to be different than any government we’ve ever seen.”
