An Oklahoma woman is suing a state OSDE inspector over alleged abuse of her grandchildren

An Oklahoma woman is suing State Superintendent Ryan Walters and the Oklahoma Department of Education for allegedly violating state law by failing to intervene when her grandchildren were being bullied at school.

The lawsuit says the woman’s grandchildren were elementary students at Keys Public Schools in Cherokee County.

In the lawsuit, the woman claims that state agencies did not take seriously the investigation of her formal complaints against the school.

The district’s statement said OSDE did not ask the school to take action after the investigation was completed.

News 9 reached out to the OSDE, which said it cannot comment on ongoing cases, but the department does take incidents of abuse “very seriously.”
