JonBenet Ramsey Doc debunks theories that her parents Patsy, John killed her

The latest Netflix documentaries about JonBenét RamseyThe murder attempted to dispel theories pointing to her parents, John and Patsy, as possible killers.

Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramseywhich premiered on Monday, November 25, featured interviews with various experts, reporters and family members who denied the existence of evidence connection Jan AND Patsy Ramsey until JonBenét’s death. The three-part documentary then highlighted evidence of John and Patsy’s innocence and lack of involvement in their daughter’s murder.

“We were prosecuted in the court of public opinion. By that time we were almost doomed,” John shared in the documents. “Gallup, the pollster, did a poll at one point. 70 percent of respondents believed that the family killed their daughter. That the parents killed their daughter.”

JonBenét was found dead at the age of 6 in the basement of her home a few hours after she was reported missing. Her skull was fractured and a garrote was tied around her neck. JonBenét’s official cause of death was asphyxiation due to craniocerebral trauma and her death was ruled a murder.

In the years since JonBenét’s murder, Boulder police have investigated many suspects and theories. Patsy and John, who are also parents to Burke’s son, were accused of involvement in her death, and a grand jury voted to indict the pair in 1999. However, the indictment was never signed by the Boulder District Attorney due to lack of evidence. The pair were acquitted in 2008 when DNA testing helped investigators determine that DNA found on JonBenét’s body came from an unrelated man.

Meanwhile, Burke was there also accused by public opinion for participating in her death. After Case: JonBenét Ramsey aired in 2016, Burke sued CBS and producers over the insinuation that he killed JonBenét. The case settled out of court for an undisclosed amount in 2019.

Traces in the snow

According to a retired El Paso County Sheriff’s Office chief, Boulder police originally used the footprints – or lack thereof – as evidence against Patsy and John.

“Initiated by the Boulder police, there was information that it was done by someone from the house because there were no shoe prints in the snow,” he added. Jan San Augustin he reminded. “The front of the house is slightly dusty. But if you look at the back of the house, there is no snow.

However, several experts and reporters pointed out that there was “no snow” at the time of JonBenét’s death. John specifically accused a Rocky Mountain News reporter of leaking details to the police.

“The police had a lot of information they wanted to give to a certain guy Charlie Brennan” John said, before Brennan responded in a separate confessional, “I was told by a source I trusted that the police upon arrival noted that they saw no tracks in the snow. And they found it significant.”

Brennan explained that he was simply reporting what did the police pick up on? and he felt that “it was important” but it did not reflect his point of view on the matter.

John pilots a jet

Journalist Michael Tracey told a “touching story,” written in the days after JonBenét’s death, about how her dad “piloted his jet back” to Atlanta with her casket on board. John, however, didn’t have a jet, which Brennan admitted was a false tip.

“When I reported that John Ramsey was piloting his own plane back to Atlanta for the funeral, it was inaccurate,” he explained in the document. “It came from a source I trusted completely and who provided me with other solid information. But that was wrong. My source was wrong on this and it was a mistake.

Patsy ransom call

JonBenét’s mother became publicly involved in the murder investigation when reports surfaced that investigators had discovered similarities between Patsy’s handwriting and handwriting. the letter used in the ransom demand.

“At least four experts – including two from the Secret Service – looked at the handwriting and concluded that ‘Patsy Ramsey did not write the note,'” Bob Whitson, who worked for the Boulder police, shared in the document. Meanwhile, in a separate recording, journalist Paula Woodward claimed that police “didn’t like the response” so they “released the information” by claiming Patsy wrote it.

Footage SteveThomas, who was previously the lead detective on the case, showed him defending the theories put forward during the investigation. The interviews focused on a $25 defamation and defamation lawsuit that Patsy and John filed in 2001 against the tabloid, which was ultimately settled.

John’s link to the ransom amount

The ransom portion left at Ramsey’s home was listed as $118,000. Authorities doubted John had a hand in writing the letter because the ransom demand was similar to a $118,700 bonus he received at work that year.

“If this intruder had come in, waited in the house and gone to Mr. Ramsey’s office, he could have looked through the newspapers,” Whitson noted. “I was told it was apparently mentioned in the documents there.”

Discovery of sexual assault

Multiple reporters testified in the documentary that they received a tip that JonBenét had suffered “chronic” sexual abuse before her death. Investigators I thought John was involved — and they cited photos JonBenét had of her competitions as evidence.

Earlier, JonBenét’s pediatrician, Dr Francesco Beuf, was questioned and he denied any signs of abuse and said: ‘I told them absolutely and categorically: no. There was absolutely no evidence, either physical or historical. There was never any evidence of sexual abuse. She was a very loving child.”

John has previously spoken out about “false” claims that he attacked his daughter. Footage from these interviews was reproduced in the documentaries.

Patsy covers up her own crime

According to Thomas’ testimony in a 2001 civil case, he believed Patsy killed JonBenét out of “parental rage.” He repeated the theory about how Patsy allegedly hurt JonBenét because her daughter had wet the bed earlier that night.

“I believe she was struck against a hard surface, such as the edge of the bathtub, which caused the fatal head wound,” Thomas said of Patsy going into a “fit of rage” that ended in murder.

Whitson claimed that “the evidence doesn’t match”this theory.

“We know that JonBenét was alive when she was tortured in the moments before her death. So if you believe that Patsy did this, she would have had to have done all this while JonBenét was alive,” he said of JonBenét’s injuries and apparent sexual assault prior to her death. “It wasn’t a staging. She was alive when this was done.

Photos taken from JonBenét’s room the morning after her death were shown in the documents. There were no signs on JonBenét’s bed that she had wet it or that it had been replaced with a new sheet.

“Patsy has just recovered from stage four ovarian cancer. She was grateful to be alive. Do you think her baby wetting the bed would be a big deal? No,” John stated in the document. “She was happy to be alive and having more time with her children. It was nonsense. It fails the common sense test.”

Patsy, who died ovarian cancer in 2006 at the age of 49, she denied any involvement in her daughter’s death all these years.
