One woman is dead and another injured in a shooting behind a Columbia nightclub

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – One woman is dead and another was injured following a shooting at a Columbia nightclub Sunday night.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Office (RCSD) said deputies are working security at Space 803, also known as Club Space, on Decker Boulevard.

Shortly before midnight, officers heard shots fired outside the building and called police.

They found two women, each with wounds to the upper body, one of whom was conscious and the other unconscious. According to RCSD, the first woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and the unresponsive woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said no suspects have been found yet.

Space 803 released a statement regarding the incident on its Facebook page:

“We want to start by expressing our deepest condolences to the victims of this heartbreaking tragedy. Our thoughts are with you and your families during this extremely difficult time. While no words can truly convey the pain and loss you are experiencing, please know that you have our unwavering support and compassion.

At Space803, our goal is to serve our community with integrity and compassion. Recent events have brought significant challenges and scrutiny, but we remain steadfast in the values ​​that guide our business. We want to make it clear: in no way, shape or form do we condone domestic violence and we stand firm against all acts of harm in our community.

To be clear, this tragic incident did not occur at Space803, but behind buildings adjacent to our company. At the time of the incident, Space803 had security measures in place, including Richland County Sheriff’s Department personnel and SLED-certified armed security, to ensure the safety of our customers and employees.

We ask our community for your continued thoughts and prayers for the families affected by this tragedy.
