Kate Middleton invites knife attack survivors to a Christmas carol service

Kate Middletonthe guests of her annual carol service this year will be survivors of the disaster a knife attack at a local dance school, which killed three children and injured nine others.

A Kensington Palace spokesman confirmed to ABC News on Monday that survivors of the attack, which took place during a Taylor Swift-inspired children’s event, will attend a service on December 6 at Westminster Abbey.

This year’s show, which will be broadcast in the UK on Christmas Eve, “draws inspiration from the Christmas story, which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need to give and receive empathy,” a palace spokesman said when the date was announced.

“This year, Her Royal Highness wanted to honor the memory of many people who supported those in need – people who inspired, advised, comforted and, above all, showed that love is the greatest gift we can receive,” the spokesman said.

Kate and her husband, Prince William visited the site of a stabbing attack in Southport, England, on October 10; It was one of Kate’s first public appearances since announcing in March, which she was diagnosed with cancer.

According to Kensington Palace, Kate and William met with the fire brigade, ambulance, air ambulance and police at the Southport Community Center.

They also met with mental health professionals who are working to support community members after the attack.

Police said at the time that a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after the attack. Police said the incident was not being treated as terrorism-related and no other suspects were being sought. The motive is not clear, police added.

Shortly after the July attack, William and Kate released a statement offering “love, thoughts and prayers” to all the victims.

“As parents, we cannot imagine what the families, friends and loved ones of those killed and injured in Southport are going through,” William and Kate wrote in a message. common on social media on July 29. “We send our love, thoughts and prayers to all those involved in this terrible and heinous attack.”
