A third deputy died in a tragic accident in Loxahatchee after days of fighting for his life

Third deputy involved wa accident in Loxahatchee — which claimed a life two other MPs — died after several days of fighting for life.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) announced Monday morning that Deputy Ignacio “Dan” Diaz died five days after a fatal crash on South Boulevard on November 21.

“We once again mourn the loss of our brothers who dedicated their lives to serving and protecting Palm Beach County. We stand together, honoring their memories and supporting their families, friends and colleagues at this time of great sadness. Let us remember their courage and commitment to duty as we pledge to continue their legacy,” PBSO said in a news release Monday afternoon.

Deputy Diaz was struck on motorcycles along with Corporal Luis Paez and Sheriff’s Deputy Ralph “Butch” Waller near the Arden Clubhouse. According to FHP reportthe three were conducting a traffic stop when a woman driving an SUV veered off the road, hit a guardrail and ricocheted straight into the officers.

Corporal Paez and Deputy Sheriff Waller pronounced dead on the day of the crash, while Deputy Diaz was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach. Some an overwhelming show of support brought in law enforcement together in the hospital.

On Monday, law enforcement officers were again present in front of the hospital.

CBS12’s Lula Ortiz he talked to Diaz’s cousinAyerim Lopez, the day after the crash. Lopez and Diaz’s family describes Diaz as a family man, father and great friend.

Deputy Diaz joined PBSO in 2004 and was a valued member of the PBSO Automotive Unit for over 10 years.

Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Indiana Miranda was interviewed by CBS12’s Al Pefley and said there are no criminal charges pending against the driver at this time as the case remains under investigation.
