UPDATE: Police are naming persons of interest in the shooting of a taxi driver in Rockfort

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Police are looking for five men they believe are persons of interest in a fight that left one man dead and another injured in the crime-ridden Rockfort community in east Kingston.

The men wanted are:

* “Max”

*”GeoDawg”

*”Benjy”

*Nikon Linton, otherwise known as “Stooky”

* Okero Lafesta

Police said the men were wanted in connection with the shooting of a taxi driver. A taxi driver was shot dead after he allegedly stabbed 23-year-old Yusuf Linton, also known as “Isis”, at the premises where they lived. Linton later died in hospital.

Reports showed that around 11:30 p.m. the taxi driver was at home, drinking alcohol and having an argument in connection with the incident, in connection with which the man allegedly informed his girlfriend living abroad about it.

The tone of his voice and the consistency of his arguments irritated other people in the yard, so they allegedly tried to forcefully evict the taxi driver from the premises.

Police added that these other people went to the taxi driver’s room, took appliances, kitchen utensils and other personal items from inside and threw them outside.

A taxi driver who was nearby at the time and heard the noise went to his room to investigate when he reportedly saw a man with a gun standing guard as his belongings were thrown away. Police reported that the taxi driver, realizing he was outnumbered, reached for a knife from the kitchen sink. Linton was reportedly stabbed and allegedly approached him.

According to reports, the taxi driver was shot in the left side of the head. He dodged, ran out of the house and fled. He was reportedly chased but managed to make it to the Rockfort Police Station where he was assisted in transporting him to the hospital.

Linton also underwent treatment at hospital but later died from his injuries.
