Inquest begins after man dies (1960s) following robbery in Finglas – The Irish Times

A 60-year-old man died following an attack in Finglas, north Dublin, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of an assault outside a residence on Dunsink Green just before 12.30pm.

The man was treated at the scene and later pronounced dead at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

Gardaí said no arrests have been made at this time and inquiries are ongoing.

The scene at Dunsink Green remains secured for forensic examination. The coroner has been notified and the Garda Technical Office and the Office of the State Pathologist have been asked to assist with the investigation, gardaí said in a statement.

An autopsy will also be scheduled.

A senior investigating officer was appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room was established at Finglas Garda Station. A family liaison officer will be appointed to support the man’s family.

Gardaí investigating are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are particularly attractive to people with video footage and drivers who may have dash cam footage in the area at the moment to contact them.
