Hospital tycoon Doctor Boon Vanasinwhose alleged investment fraud caused hundreds of victims in billions of baht in damages is allegedly planning to flee China for Europe, a former Bangkok MP has claimed Tankhun Jitt-itsara he said on Tuesday.

Boon, 86, allegedly used his credentials as founder of Thonburi Hospital and chairman of the board of Thonburi Healthcare Group (THG) to raise loans and attract investments worth billions of baht to finance five mega healthcare projects.

Tankhun accompanied two victims of Boon’s fraud to give statements to police. The former Democratic Party MP is currently the chairman of the Santi Pracha Dhamma Club, a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting social justice.

He said his source revealed that Boon, who fled to China in September, planned to go to Europe, where he would use his strong connections to hide from authorities.

“I hope that the police in Thailand and China, as well as Interpol, will manage to arrest the suspect as soon as possible and bring justice to the victims,” ​​he said.

Tankhun added that he believed that more victims would come forward after December 12, the deadline for repaying Boon’s loans.

He added that some accomplices may also use this opportunity to declare themselves victims to avoid charges. So far, 527 victims have filed complaints, claiming total losses have exceeded 7 billion baht.

On November 22, the Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Boon and eight other people, including his ex-wife Jaruwan Vanasina and daughter Nalin Vanasin.

The ex-wife and daughter went to police the next day and were refused bail. The remaining six suspects have already been arrested.
