A Wichita woman died after rear-ending a plane into a propeller in Derby

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The woman who died Saturday afternoon after striking a moving plane propeller while taking photos at the Air Capital drop zone has been identified as 37-year-old Amanda Gallagher.

According to Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Gallagher was taking photos at the Air Capital drop zone of people boarding and exiting planes when she backed into the plane’s active propeller.

When emergency services arrived, she was unresponsive and was taken to a local hospital in very critical condition, where she later died from her injuries.

Gallagher’s family founded the company GoFundMe help cover the costs of her funeral.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, but police believe it was an accident.
