A man and a woman have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 54-year-old Brockton man

Following Monday’s order, the man and woman were held in custody without bail fatal shooting of 54-year-old Brockton man who officials and legal documents say died in his apartment Friday afternoon.

Documents show Rivaldo Jean, 23, and Imani Angela Cort, 21, have pleaded not guilty to murder or other charges in connection with the killing of Frantzy Jeanty, who was shot to death at his Pleasant Street residence in Friday around 3:20 p.m.

Their attorneys could not immediately be reached for comment.

Office of Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said Brockton police were called to the address at 3:23 p.m. in connection with a report of a man lying on the floor with visible blood. Emergency services discovered Jeanty suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene. according to a statement from Cruz’s office.

The statement said video surveillance shows a white Audi sedan registered to Cort’s mother pull up near the apartment complex as two people wearing dark clothing and face coverings get out of the car, the statement said. Prosecutors say the couple was allegedly identified as Jean and Cort during the course of the investigation.

According to authorities, surveillance footage allegedly shows Jean climbing the fire escape, entering the apartment building through a second-story window, descending to the first floor and opening the back door to let Cort in.

Video surveillance allegedly shows the pair going to Jeanty’s apartment while Cort knocks on the door and asks for him and Jean stands to the side, the statement said. Cort steps away as Frantzy opens the door, officials said, and Jean enters the apartment shortly before hearing several shots.

Jean can also be heard on surveillance telling Cort to go downstairs and wait until they hear more shots before leaving with a suitcase that investigators believe contains a safe containing thousands of dollars, Cruz’s office said.

Prosecutors say Jean and Cort fled in the Audi, and on Saturday investigators visited Middleboro, where the vehicle was registered. The statement said Cort was at the address at the time and agreed to go with state police officers to the Middleboro barracks for questioning. She was later arrested.

Meanwhile, Jean was arrested Monday morning in Dorchester.

According to officials, the next hearing in the case of both defendants is scheduled for December 23.
