Ohio man charged in South Carolina on child abuse and cyberstalking charges

COLUMBIA, S.C. – A federal grand jury has indicted a 21-year-old Ohio man on six counts, including coercion and enticement of a minor, production and distribution of child sexual abuse material and cyberstalking, federal prosecutors announced Friday.

Jack Keegan Davis, of Columbus, Ohio, is accused of using social media platforms to target minors in multiple states, including South Carolina, from August 2022 to October 2024. According to the indictment, Davis used at least 130 display names on social media, posing as a minor, to coerce victims into producing explicit material, which he then allegedly distributed to other minors, including one victim’s classmates.

Prosecutors also accuse Davis of using the material to harass and threaten at least one minor victim and her family. Despite the restraining order, Davis continued to contact the victim and her family, reportedly making violent threats such as, “I will kill (the victim) and (the victim’s) family,” and providing the victim’s home address.

Davis was arrested by FBI agents in Ohio, where he was initially held following a contentious bail hearing. He was then transported to South Carolina, where U.S. Magistrate Judge Paige J. Gossett ordered him held pending trial.

Davis faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison if convicted on the child sexual abuse charges, and a maximum sentence of life in prison on the coercion and enticement charges. Additional penalties include fines, restitution, lifetime post-release supervision and potential registration as a sex offender.

The case is being investigated by the FBI Columbia Field Office, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio. The case is being handled by American lawyers Elliott B. Daniels and Ariyana N. Gore.

The 21-year-old faces life in prison for allegedly exploiting minors in a widespread online scheme and making violent threats against victims and their families.
