The comedy legend behind the ‘Airplane’ movies has died! and “The Naked Gun.”

According to reports, Jim Abrahams, the legendary comedy writer, director and producer, has died Hollywood reporter. He was 80 years old.

Abrahams’ son, Joseph, told the outlet that his father died of natural causes at his home in Santa Monica, California, on Tuesday, November 26.

Abrahams was born on May 10, 1944 in Shorewood, Wisconsin IMDb bio states. He studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with childhood friends and future colleagues Jerry and David Zucker.

The trio later collaborated on several cult comedies, including “The Kentucky Fried Movie,” “Top Secret!”, “Hot Shots!”, “Ruthless Men” and “Airplane!”

“Plane!” won the 1981 Writer’s Guild of America Award for “Best Comedy Based on Another Medium” and received nominations to the Golden Globes, satellite awards and more.

The film also placed fourth on the Writers Guild of America list “101 Funniest Scenarios” in 2015, among dozens of other distinctions. The Abrahams/Zucker team also found success with the TV series “Police Squad!” from 1982.

In addition to his son, Joseph, Abrahams is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter Jamie; his second son, Charlie; according to The Hollywood Reporter, his grandchildren are Caleb, James and Isaac.
