Man shot over pair of tennis shoes in Jackson MS

The Jackson Police Department said officers are looking for two suspects who allegedly shot and killed a “young man” for a pair of sneakers.

According to Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade, the shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pine Ridge Gardens Apartments.

Wade said the unidentified victim, who was in his 20s, was approached by two suspects who wanted the victim’s tennis shoes. Wade said the victim refused to give up his “Nike Air Jordans” and was “shot in the head” by the suspects. Wade said the suspects stole shoes after shooting the victim.

Both suspects are known as “Scooter” and “Mane,” Wade said. Once arrested, the suspects are expected to face capital murder charges.

The victim’s name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

Anyone with information is asked to call Jackson police at (601) 960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at (601) 355-8477.
