Former NHL player and analyst Paul Bissonnette was hospitalized after allegedly being assaulted by multiple people at an Arizona restaurant.

Bissonnette, 39, was at a Houston restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Sunday, Nov. 24, when he witnessed a “minor disturbance at the bar,” he said in video sent to X a day later. He said he saw a group of drunk men who were asked to leave by restaurant staff.

When one of the men allegedly “put his hands” on the manager, Bissonnette said he intervened and grabbed the man.

“I said, ‘Sir, if you continue to harass and attack staff, we’re going to have problems,'” Bissonnette said in the video.

This prompted the man and the group he was with to come into physical contact, he claims, adding that “the situation escalated extremely quickly.” Bissonnette claims he fought with seven men between the restaurant and the parking lot, although police only arrested six men in the incident.

Bissonnette said he was hit in the head and “knocked out a few times” but never lost consciousness. He added that after retreating to a nearby CVS, he was later taken to the hospital for his injuries.

He said the fight lasted three to four minutes, but the escalation of events at the restaurant allowed time for police to arrive.

“There was an altercation with six adult men and management inside the restaurant,” said Sgt. Scottsdale Police. – said Allison Sempsis Fox 10 Phoenix. “According to reports, Paul Bissonnette tried to help management calm down the men and get them to leave. The situation escalated into the men attacking Paul Bissonnette both inside and outside the restaurant.”

In the video, Bissonnette showed minor facial injuries – a few scratches and cuts to his cheeks – but insisted he was fine.

Former NHL player, part of the so-called Spitting Chiclets podcast, talked about the incident in the latest episode, which was released on November 26.

Scottsdale police have not released the names of the arrested men.
