Police are investigating a fatal morning crash in Millard

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha police are investigating a crash in Millard that killed one driver on Sunday.

Officers responded to the scene at 3:40 a.m. near 144th Street and Hillsdale Avenue.

Crash investigators determined the driver was traveling northbound on 144th Street at an estimated speed of more than 100 miles per hour and then struck a light pole. At the scene of the incident, it was found that the passenger car was divided into two parts and was on fire.

Omaha Fire Department medics pronounced 24-year-old Brenden Patire, the driver of the car, dead at the scene.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
