After the search for suspects ends, an investigation continues into a fatal shooting in Merriam

MERRIAM, Kan. (KCTV) – Merriam police have identified a man who was shot late last week as the investigation into his death continues.

The Merriam Police Department reports that on Friday, November 22, at approximately 8:15 a.m., emergency crews were called to a construction site at 8817 Shawnee Mission Pkwy., near Ikea, for a report of a disturbance.

While responding to the call, officers said they received a related call reporting an accident on Johnson Dr. and Slater St., just a few blocks north of the original location.

After the first rescue services arrived at the scene, it was found that the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident had suffered numerous gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries.

By 3 p.m., investigators said they had found all the people involved in the incident, but had not released the names of any suspects. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

On November 26, the victim was identified as Jentre Demarkus Parker-White, 37, of Kansas City, Kansas. The case is still being investigated as a murder, but no arrests have been made.
