Naveen Babu’s wife accuses CPM of obstructing police investigation, ADM death in Kerala, Naveen Babu, CBI investigation, CPM, SIT, Kannur, murder, suicide, Kerala High Court

Kochi: Manjusha, wife of recently deceased Kannur ADM Naveen Babu, has alleged that ruling CPM leaders are obstructing an unimpeded investigation into his death. In a petition filed in the Kerala High Court, she called for: CBI investigation into the case.

In the petition, Manjusha claims that the formation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) does not follow due process, allowing CPM leaders to influence the investigation. In her opinion, the statements of state leaders indicate that the investigation may be guided by political interests, not facts.

Questions have been raised about the role of the Collector

The petition also raises concerns about the alleged “unholy alliance” between the accused and the Kannur district collector. Manjusha questions the credibility of the statement allegedly made by Naveen Babu in which he admitted his mistake. According to the family, these statements cannot be believed because the politically influential accused could have influenced the Collector.

The cause of death is also questionable. Police said there was no suicide note, which the family said raises suspicions that it may have been a murder. They fear that the SIT may hide key evidence, such as a possible suicide note, to protect the accused.

Call for a thorough investigation

Naveen Babu’s family claims that crucial evidence such as CCTV footage from the Collectorate premises, staff quarters and the nearby railway station was not collected.

The family is also questioning the authenticity of a letter allegedly sent to the Prime Minister alleging that Naveen had accepted bribe from Prasanthan. They believe the letter was fabricated. They are also suspicious of the way the police are handling the case, especially the haste with which the investigation was prepared before the family arrived at the scene.

The petition also alleges that the police are encouraging former district panchayat president Divya to fabricate evidence in the case, raising more questions about the fairness of the investigation. The SIT also shows no interest in collecting evidence.
