A woman fatally struck by a car on Columbus Street in Ashburn has been identified

CHICAGO (WLS) — An 18-year-old woman who was fatally struck by a car in the South Side’s Ashburn neighborhood Monday night has been identified.

The crash occurred around 11:25 p.m. in the 3800 block of West Columbus Avenue.

Police said a 48-year-old man was driving west in a white SUV when he hit a woman who ran into the street.

Police said the woman was transported to Advocate Christ Hospital, where she later died.

She was identified as Tru S. Butler and lived near the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and was awaiting questioning.
