Four people died as a result of the explosion of an LPG cylinder

On Tuesday, police said four women were killed and five others injured in an explosion that caused the collapse of three houses in the town of Morena in Madhya Pradesh state.

The incident took place near Rathore Colony around midnight, said Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh. He added that the body of one of the deceased women was still being extracted from the rubble. Vasudev Rathore, whose house was destroyed in the explosion and whose 28-year-old daughter-in-law was among the victims, expressed suspicion that gunpowder was the cause of the blast.

He told reporters that intact LPG cylinders were found while clearing the debris.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha said the cause of the blast was not yet clear.

The forensic laboratory team will be able to determine whether the explosion was gunpowder or a gas cylinder, he added. The injured were sent to Gwalior for further treatment, said a doctor from the district hospital in Morena.
