6 people detained in connection with the murder of lawyer Ctg Alif, identified in the video material: CAO

The Chattagram Metropolitan Police yesterday detained six people in connection with the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif during the violence that led to the denial of bail of former Iskcon Bangladesh leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.

They were identified from video footage, according to the general counsel’s office.

In a Facebook post today (November 27), the CAO said the CMP also detained 21 people for vandalism and attacks on police during the clashes.

A press release said six members of the Awami League and the banned Chhatra League were also arrested in the port city using home-made improvised explosives (cocktails).

The joint force arrested a total of 33 people from Chattogram’s Kotwali area in connection with the vandalism and killing of Alif during the riots.
