A pair of siblings from North Carolina say their deceased father is always elusive Boeing hijacker, DB Cooper After he allegedly found a parachute hidden in their home, according to a new report.

Chanté and Rick McCoy III claim their father, Richard McCoy Jr., was an infamous fugitive who disappeared when he jumped out of a Boeing plane with $200,000 in cash after passengers and crew were taken hostage in 1971, – reports the Cowboys State Daily..

The siblings said they waited until after their mother’s death in 2020 to report them, fearing she might be drawn into the case when a parachute that allegedly belonged to Cooper was found in her front storage locker.

After her death, the siblings met Aviation YouTuber Dan Gryderwho saw the parachute and believes it is the same one Cooper used in 1971.

“This set is literally one in a billion,” Gryder told a local shop about the unique parachute he saw.

Gryder claimed that the parachute in the McCoy home matched a modified parachute prepared for police by veteran parachutist Earl Cossey. part of Cooper’s demands before disappearing somewhere between Seattle and Reno, Nevada.

D.B. Cooper detectives raised the possibility that Richard Jr. he had been a fugitive for years due to his criminal past.

Five months after Cooper made his famous caper, Richard Jr. was caught in a similar kidnapping in Utah. The thief eventually escaped from prison and was killed in another shootout with the police.

The McCoy siblings told Gryder they had known the truth for years, but talking about it in their family remained taboo due to fears that law enforcement would implicate their mother, Karen, in both kidnappings.

Gryder published his latest theory and photos of the parachute, and the FBI allegedly contacted the McCoys to see the evidence for themselves.

The McCoys told the Daily that the FBI searched the North Carolina compound for additional clues and seized the parachute in 2023, and Rick also provided investigators with a DNA sample.

Agents allegedly informed him that the next step might be to exhume his father’s body, but such a request had not yet been made.

The FBI has not made any public statements about the investigation or confirmed that it is actively investigating the DB Cooper case.

The agency said the case was officially closed in 2016 due to a lack of potential clients.

It has never been confirmed whether Cooper survived the jump through the rugged, forested landscape somewhere between Seattle and Reno, Nevada.

One of the few clues to the kidnapper’s identity was a recovered black tie and a disintegrating bundle of $20 bills matching the serial numbers of the ransom money, which were discovered in 1980 by a young boy on a sandbar along the Columbia River.
