Tension is rising at Nellore Hospital following the brutal murder of transgender leader Hasini

Tension prevailed at the Government General Hospital in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh after the murder of Hasini, a well-known leader of the transgender community, late on Tuesday evening. According to reports, the victim was murdered by unidentified assailants at Tapathopu in Kodavaluru mandal. Her body was taken to the GGH mortuary, where the incident sparked widespread outrage.

In response, a large group of transgender people, including members from Nellore, Tamil Nadu, Tirupati, Vijayawada and other regions, gathered at the hospital. Demonstrators staged a protest in front of the mortuary, demanding speedy justice for Hasini. The growing crowd prompted authorities to set up heavy police barricades and deploy additional forces to maintain order and prevent further escalation.

Photos from the hospital show a crowd mourning the loss of a transgender leader and demanding justice for the murder.

Local authorities expressed concern about the increasingly unstable situation. Police confirmed that the murder may be linked to an ongoing power struggle between rival transgender factions. Initial investigations reportedly led to the identification of possible suspects and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) assured the community that arrests would be made soon.

As authorities try to contain the unrest, plans are being made to transport Hasini’s body to her hometown Mangalam in Tirupati for last rites.
