Sri KDU claims that it decided to close the Kota Damansara branch and it was not forced due to alleged food poisoning

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 — Private education operator Sri KDU Schools today said it had “voluntarily” closed the canteen at its Kota Damansara branch for deep cleaning, and not because it was forced to do so due to suspected food poisoning.

It also said the school reopened on October 25, a day after the cleanup.

“I emphasize that there has been no forced closure of the school and the temporary closure was unrelated to the allegations of food poisoning, which have not yet been confirmed,” the school said in a statement.

“As Sri KDU Kota Damansara Schools will have a scheduled summer break in view of the upcoming Deepavali celebrations, the school will be closed from October 28, 2024 and classes will resume on November 4, 2024.”

She also announced cooperation with the Petaling District Health Office (PKDP) in the field of health and hygiene standards.

On October 25, The Star reported that Sri KDU Kota Damansara had been ordered to close until next month following suspected food poisoning in its canteen.

The newspaper also reported that the school said norovirus had been detected in some of those affected.

“Diagnostic tests we conducted on a sample of students and employees, as well as on children treated in hospital, confirmed the presence of norovirus.”
