Suspect in Harker Heights death investigation found dead in Wood County

HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KXXV) – The Harker Heights Police Department has identified a suspect and victim following an investigation into a death that occurred on November 17.

The department says officers responded to Jason Drive where they found a man inside a home who died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators identified the victim as Christopher Serres, a 70-year-old Harker Heights man.

The suspect in the death was Helmut Holder. The body of a 56-year-old Harker Heights man was later found in Wood County. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office says the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

While the investigation is ongoing, police say there is no threat to the public in connection with this incident.
