Karmal Ismail wanted on an arrest warrant for sexual assault

Calgary police are looking for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman downtown earlier this month.

Police say the woman was walking in the area of ​​Sixth Avenue and 10 Street SW around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, when she was approached by a man who threatened her with a gun.

The victim tried to escape by heading into the hallway of a nearby apartment, but police say the man followed him.

“After entering the hall, he again threatened her with a knife and then sexually assaulted her,” police said in a press release Wednesday.

The man then fled.

Calgary Transit officers located the victim and called police.

Investigators identified the man believed to be responsible and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Karmal Ismail, 33, of Calgary, is described as 180 centimeters tall and 70 kilograms, with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.

He is wanted on an arrest warrant for sexual assault with a weapon and forced imprisonment.
