Trae Young’s final injury status before today’s game against the Cavaliers

Trae Young’s final injury status before today’s game against the Cavaliers

The Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers are set to announce tonight’s game in Cleveland, and the Hawks just announced Trae Young’s status for the game. Young will be eligible to play tonight in Cleveland.

Heading into today’s game, the Hawks rank 9th in the NBA in PPG, 19th in FG%, 21st in 3PA, 22nd in 3P%, 5th in FTA, 24th in turnovers and 13th in rebounds . For Glass cleaningAtlanta ranks 20th in points per 100 possessions, 20th in effective field goal percentage, 19th in turnover percentage, 9th in offensive rebounding percentage and 11th in free throw rate.

The Hawks currently rank 28th in PPG allowed, 22nd in field goal percentage allowed, 30th in three-point shooting percentage allowed and 30th in three-point shooting percentage allowed. According to Cleaning the Glass, Atlanta ranks 21st in points per 100 possessions and 30th in effective field goal percentage.

Cleveland has the best record in the league and that’s no coincidence. The numbers reflect an elite team, and Atlanta will have a big challenge tonight. The Cavs are 1st in the NBA in PPG, 1st in FG%, 13th in three-point shooting, 1st in 3P%, 27th in free throws, 19th in rebounds and 6th in in terms of losses. According to Per Cleaning the Glass, Cleveland ranks second in points per 100 possessions, first in effective field goal percentage, sixth in turnover percentage, 26th in offensive rebounding percentage and 27th in free throw rate.

Defensively, the Cavs may not be as elite as they were a few years ago, but they are still very good. They rank 10th in PPG allowed, 10th in FG% allowed, 13th in three-pointers allowed, and 28th in three-point percentage allowed. According to Cleaning the Glass, Cleveland ranks 8th in points per 100 possessions and 12th in effective field goal percentage.

Dyson Daniels will be tasked with guarding Donovan Mitchell tonight and maybe even Darius Garland when Mitchell comes off the floor. Daniels has been the best perimeter defender in the NBA this season, but his game hasn’t had much impact since the Hawks won back-to-back wins over the Celtics and Wizards.

The Hawks still start No. 1 Zaccharie Risacher, but he has struggled shooting from three (and overall) and hasn’t played a lot of minutes over the last few games. Assuming Risacher continues to start the game, how long he stays on the court may depend on how he shoots. He was a good defender, but the Hawks have a shooting and spacing problem right now, and if he doesn’t shoot well, it hurts the team.

Jalen Johnson is having a great game, scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and shooting 12-20 from the field. Johnson could have a really great night tonight. He is one of the best rebounders in the league, and Cleveland ranks 19th in rebounding and 26th in offensive rebounds.

The Hawks center position needs to be better offensively. Clint Capela provides rim protection and solid rebounding, but mostly has nothing to offer offensively. Onyeka Okongwu should be the guy that causes offense, but he hasn’t had a good season and that’s one of the main reasons why the Hawks’ bench is struggling so much. If Okongwu’s issues continue, the Hawks may want to consider Larry Nance more often.

A big problem for the Hawks was the bench, which was supposed to strengthen the team for the coming year. Bogdan Bogdaovic has started shooting the ball better in the last two games, but De’Andre Hunter is back to struggling after a solid start to the season. Since returning from injury, Kobe Bufkin has not made any impact in the games he has played in. The Hawks performed well, but the bench is the main reason for the Hawks’ struggles today.

The Cavs aren’t one of the best rebounding teams in the league, don’t get to the end zone (27th in free throw percentage and free throw rate) and rank 28th in three-point percentage. If the Hawks can win the rebounding battle, have a big advantage in free throws, and find a way to not get destroyed in the three-point battle, they might just have a chance.

Cleveland has an elite guard combination with Mitchell and Garland, and both have played exceptionally early in the year. However, Evan Mobley may be the biggest story for the Cavs. He is an incredible defender and is currently shooting 36% from three, although not at high volume. Ty Jerome is one of the best bench players in the NBA and is also one of the best shooters this year, shooting 54% from three this season.
