LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has released the cause of death for Ryan Kobayashi, father of missing Hawaiian Hannah Kobayashi.

According to the report, “multiple blunt force trauma” caused Kobayashi’s death, which was ruled a suicide.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 58-year-old’s body was found on November 24 in a parking lot near Los Angeles International Airport.

Officers received a call around 4:00 a.m. reporting that a body had been found in the area. Police said Kobayashi most likely jumped from the parking lot and caused his death.

“The Kobayashi family suffered a devastating tragedy today. After 13 days of tireless searching in Los Angeles, Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically took his own life. “Hannah is still missing and is believed to be in immediate danger. It is very important that everyone remains vigilant in the efforts to locate Hannah,” the statement read.

Hannah Kobayashi reported lost by her family on November 12 after she missed her connecting flight from Maui to New York at LAX a few days earlier on November 8.

Since her disappearance, the elder Kobayashi, who said he is estranged from his daughter, has spoken on behalf of his family, asking the public for help in the search.

“I wish I could have been more available to her. Trying to find her, that’s all,” he told FOX 11 during a rally outside the Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles last week.

“Ryan was one of the most amazing, compassionate, loving and yet very sensitive people. He had a really big heart,” Hannah Kobayashi’s aunt told FOX 11’s Hailey Winslow. “We believe that after 12 days of searching, maybe an hour of sleep each night… with all the possibilities swirling around… we believe that Ryan simply broke down, couldn’t take it, and took his own life.”

Surveillance footage obtained by Kobayashi’s family shows Kobayashi leaving the airport on November 8 wearing a black hoodie, tie-dye leggings and carrying a dark green backpack.

According to her family, Kobayashi was seen at The Grove on November 9 and 10. On November 10, Kobayashi sent her a message: Instagram a black-and-white photo from a two-day Nike and LeBron James event she apparently attended at a shopping mall about 14 miles north of the airport.

According to her family, Kobayashi returned to Los Angeles on November 11 but did not board the plane. According to her family, she was seen talking to an American Airlines agent for almost 40 minutes to rebook a flight. That was the last time Kobayashi’s phone rang.

“It’s very unlike her to disappear,” said sister Sydni Kobayashi.

Concerns increased when the family claimed they had received “strange” messages from her mobile phone that “didn’t sound like her”.

“Even in those text messages, it just didn’t feel like it was her or anyone else or maybe someone doing something to her to change her state of mind because that’s not what she usually talks about,” Sydni said.

The family said they also obtained surveillance footage of Kobayashi in the area of ​​the Pico subway station near the Crypto.com Arena. It’s unclear when the footage was filmed, but the family said it was “obvious that Hannah does not appear to be in good condition and is not alone.”

They concluded that, based on this evidence, Hannah was in extreme danger and likely a victim of sex trafficking.

“That fear is still with the family, they are very afraid of it,” Pidgeon said.

According to the LAPD, Hannah Kobayashi is 5’7″, 140 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has freckles on his face and a knife tattoo on his forearm.
