A person died by suicide on train tracks in Franklin County

One person died by suicide in Chambersburg on Tuesday afternoon they were hit by a trainaccording to the police.

The incident happened on the train tracks in the area of ​​Cleveland Avenue and Catherine Street around 2 p.m., county 911 dispatchers said.

A Chambersburg police lieutenant confirmed that the Franklin County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to the scene Tuesday, but added that “information regarding self-harm incidents” is not being released by police. The lieutenant added that the incident was neither an accident nor a homicide.

The name, age and address of the deceased were not known as of Wednesday evening. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office did not respond to two PennLive inquiries as of Tuesday evening.
