The IDF identified suspects in multiple areas of southern Lebanon and fired on them early Wednesday morning, the military said on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday IDF soldiers suspects who were detected in a prohibited area on Lebanese territory were shot dead, the military said Wednesday morning, hours after a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon came into force at 4 a.m. local time.

Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli state broadcaster KAN reported that soldiers fired warning shots at Hezbollah terrorists who were trying to return to Kfarkel in southern Lebanon.

According to Israeli media, after the incident, Defense Minister Israel Katz said that he had instructed the Israel Defense Forces to firmly counteract such incidents.

“The IDF will act against anyone who tries to violate the ceasefire agreement and will continue to protect Israeli citizens,” the IDF said.

Later Wednesday, Hezbollah member of parliament Hassan Fadlallah said the terrorist group had the right to defend itself if Israel attacked.

The ceasefire agreement covers a 60-day period during which Israeli forces will withdraw from southern Lebanon, where Lebanese forces will be deployed, Hezbollah moving north of the Litani River.
