Following the stampede at Bandra Terminus on Sunday, October 27, the Western Railway has marked a new waiting area for passengers with unreserved tickets, a senior official said.

The official explained that passengers with unreserved tickets often arrive well in advance to take their seats, contributing to congestion on platforms. In the midnight incident at Bandra Terminus station, the arrival of the Gorakhpur train caused an unexpected rush, prompting some passengers to try to board while the train was still moving, leading to injuries. The newly created waiting room aims to prevent such incidents by providing a safe waiting space away from the platform.
