MANCHESTER, Jamaica – A man was shot dead and his cousin and a woman were injured in a gun attack at their family home in Hibernia, near Devon, Manchester, on Wednesday evening.

Relatives named the murder victim Evon Gibson, also known as “The General,” 45, a construction worker and mechanic.

Initial reports indicate that around 9:30 p.m., attackers entered the family home through the back door and opened fire multiple times, hitting Gibson. Another man, identified as his cousin, was shot in the leg and the cousin’s girlfriend was shot in the upper body.

They were taken to the hospital, where Gibson was pronounced dead and the injured couple was admitted for treatment.

Three other people, including Gibson’s 90-year-old grandmother, his teenage cousin and the child’s mother, were uninjured during the invasion.

This latest incident brings the death toll in Manchester to 47 since the start of the year.

said Avril Gibson, father of Evon Gibson Internet observer that his son was a hard worker.

“I am the only son. He is the first pickney to bring me back…. This (Wednesday) morning I talk to him, ‘General, come down, put him on the deck,’ ‘yes, daddy,’ and see what happens, deh,” the elder Gibson said.

“He is a builder. He’s a jack of all trades. “Right now your vehicle has a breakdown, he turns off the engine and gets the vehicle back in the morning,” he added.

The elder Gibson believes that his son was envied because he is handsome and attractive.

“He’s quite handsome. The woman likes him. “I don’t know if the woman will kill him or wah,” he said.

Detectives were investigating the case in the usually quiet community in north-east Manchester until early Thursday morning.
