Israeli attack on southern Lebanon kills eight people and wounds 25 – World

DUBAI, October 28. /TASS/. Eight people were killed and another 25 injured in an Israeli attack on the coastal city of Sidon in southern Lebanon, 40 km from the Qatari state of Beirut Al Jazeera – the TV channel reported, citing the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

According to the broadcaster, the attack, which targeted a residential building, occurred without warning. Rescuers began searching for survivors after the building partially collapsed.

On September 23, Israel launched Operation Northern Arrows against the Lebanon-based Shiite Hezbollah movement, carrying out massive airstrikes against its military targets. The declared goal is to create safe conditions for the return of local residents to Israel’s northern border areas. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in the attack on Beirut on September 27. The Israeli army announced the launch of a ground operation in the border areas of southern Lebanon in the early morning hours of October 1.
