4 free agent RB targets for Chargers after JK Dobbins injury

4 free agent RB targets for Chargers after JK Dobbins injury

The Los Angeles Chargers will be without injured running back JK Dobbins at least one match due to a knee injury.

Although many fans will be happy to see more of Gus Edwards he campaigned for debutant Kimani Vidal to gain more playing timeThe Chargers may seek help in free agency.

Here are some names the Chargers could add in free agency to help build the depth chart.

Leonard Fournette

The former fourth overall pick recently trained with Cincinnati but has not signed a contract. He is a hammer defender who caught 73 passes in his last full season (2022), making him an interesting complement to Edwards on paper.

Jerick McKinnon

The two-time Super Bowl champion is 32 years old, but he likely gets calls from teams because of his dual-threat ability. Since 2014, he has averaged four yards per carry and 20 targets as a receiver in his career.

Matt Breida

Breida hasn’t made final cuts anywhere else this year. However, it’s hard to ignore the fact that he averaged 4.6 yards per carry and nearly 8 yards per catch for his career.

Melvin Gordon

How about an old friend? Gordon is 31 years old and was last seen in Baltimore last year. It is not known whether he still wants to play, but he openly admitted that he does he regrets ever leaving the Chargers.

Other

Don’t forget about training camps and surrendering your driving license. In the former, names like Myles Gaskin are still around. However, at this point, the Chargers may simply want to give Vidal a chance rather than make any big changes to the lineup.
