71-year-old businessman shot dead during burglary at St Mary’s house

ST MARY, Jamaica — St. Mary police have not determined a motive for the death of a 71-year-old businessman who was shot during a home invasion Wednesday evening.

Winston Williams of Boardivilla, Enfield, St Mary, has died.

Police reports say Williams, his wife, brother and 12-year-old child were at home around 7 p.m. when a group of armed men forcibly entered the home.

The attackers opened fire and Williams was hit in the upper body. Then they fled.

Williams was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The other occupants of the house escaped uninjured.

The investigation is being carried out by St Mary’s Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB).
