Turkey and stuffing allowed at checkpoints

Turkey and stuffing allowed at checkpoints

Transportation Security Administration officials felt that there was travel rush in South Florida on Thanksgiving Day Thursday and advised that travelers could bring a turkey, dressing weighing up to 3.4 ounces and stuffing through the checkpoints.

There was heavy traffic at Miami International Airport in Miami-Dade County and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Broward County.

Flight delays were well below average, according to FlightAware, but that could change on Sunday, the busiest day.

According to research firm INRIX, the car journey was hassle-free and commutes in both directions were quieter before 1 p.m. on Sunday and before 8 a.m. or after 7 p.m. on Monday.
