US President Joe Biden will cast his early ballot for the presidential election on Monday, according to the White House. Many Americans can vote before Election Day on November 5.

Biden withdrew from the contest earlier this year after a disastrous debate performance against Republican Party leader Donald Trump, which saw a clash between the former US president and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden’s interruptive performance during the June 27 presidential debate with Trump, during which he spoke in a hoarse tone and appeared to fumble on key issues, was the final nail in the coffin that caused large numbers of Democrats to publicly call for Biden to withdraw.

Polls show Harris and Trump neck and neck in battleground states that will choose the next president with just over a week until Election Day. Over 38 million votes have already been cast across the country. CNN’s latest national poll put Trump and Harris at 47% among likely voters.

The poll, conducted by telephone Oct. 20-23 among 1,704 registered voters and released last Friday, showed a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points among likely voters and plus or minus 3.2 percentage points among the full sample of registered voters. People agree with Trump on issues like the economy, immigration and foreign policy, while Harris has the edge on women’s rights and democracy.

Trump has vowed to retaliate against rivals, seeking to implement a plan that was sidelined during his previous term by the global pandemic. The former president wants to enact a mass deportation of migrants in the U.S. illegally, extend and expand tax cuts through 2017, significantly raise tariffs and provide more support for fossil fuels and less support for renewable energy.

On the other hand, Harris advocated for a new path for the Biden administration, but the policies she proposed have already been implemented by the 81-year-old president – tax cuts for the middle class, tax increases for the wealthy and corporations, restoring abortion rights, a government that aggressively climate change. and a commitment to democratic values and the rule of law.
