A 22-year-old man charged after six people were injured in a horrific crash in Melbourne’s inner west as a one-year-old baby fought for his life

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving after a terrifying crash in Melbourne’s west that left a one-year-old girl in a critical condition.

A gray Nissan Qashqai with six people inside, including two infants, and a silver Honda Accord collided on Station Road in Deer Park at around 12.20pm on Friday.

Three children and six adults traveling in the Nissan were taken to hospital, and the 22-year-old driver of the Honda was not injured and was arrested at the scene.

As a result of the accident, a one-year-old girl suffered serious injuries, and a 20-month-old girl and a 10-year-old girl were transported to hospital in a stable condition with injuries to their upper body.

Three adults, a 22-year-old woman, a 25-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man, suffered minor injuries, mainly to the upper body.

A 22-year-old driver from Niddrie has been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury and causing serious injury by negligence.

He will appear in court in Melbourne on Friday.
