Henrico custodians express concerns about relationships with Henrico schools

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — “Frustrating,” “weird,” “shaky,” “uncharted waters” — those were the words Henrico Board of Supervisors Chairman Tyrone Nelson and other supervisors used during a joint meeting with the Henrico School Board on Oct. 22 to describe the two boards’ current collaboration.

The boards held a meeting to discuss a collective bargaining proposal for HCPS employees, which the school board ultimately rejected at its Oct. 24 work meeting. However, discussions at the joint meeting shifted from collective bargaining to concerns from some regulators about hostility between the two boards.
