Stephen Curry sprained his left ankle in the loss to the Warriors

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Stephen Curry injured his left ankle late in the third quarter Sunday Los Angeles Clippers lost 112-104he tried to come back, then left again and left the field for the locker room.

Curry returned briefly at 8:08 of the fourth quarter before leaving again 13 seconds later after spraining his ankle — which appeared to tilt outward — again during an offensive possession. The incident occurred near the end of the Golden State bench, after which the player limped into the tunnel leading to the locker room.

The team said it was done that night with a sprained left ankle, and coach Steve Kerr said after the game that Curry would undergo an MRI on Sunday night.

“He’s doing well. He said yes, I think he used the word mild or moderate,” Kerr said. “I’m sure he’s sprained his ankle plenty of times, so he doesn’t think it’s that serious, but it’s obviously concerning.”

Curry was at the key point, defended by Kris Dunn, when he cut away from Dunn toward the baseline and re-injured his ankle. It was 2:43 of the third quarter when Curry initially limped to the bench and sat for the rest of the quarter.

The two-time MVP and NBA all-time 3-point leader finished with 18 points, six assists and four rebounds, while also making 6 of 11 shots and four three-pointers.

The 36-year-old Curry is entering his 16th season in the NBA and regularly struggles with ankle problems in both his right and left feet.

“You can’t replace Steph Curry, but we have a good team, that’s what the numbers are for,” guard Moses Moody said.

Curry’s teammates hope he won’t be sidelined for long.

“I shake my head, I hate it, especially with him,” guard Gary Payton II said. “Everything will be fine.”
