A 16-year-old was killed in a crash in Amherst County

Amherst County, Virginia. – Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that killed a 16-year-old boy.

At 1:45 p.m. Saturday, a Kia Forte was traveling south on Possum Island Road toward the intersection with Millennium Way. According to state troopers, the vehicle lost control, went off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox and then a utility pole before overturning.

According to Virginia State Police, the vehicle’s passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was ejected and died at the scene.

Authorities identified the driver of the vehicle as Lucas S. Fretwell, 34, of Madison Heights. He was left with minor injuries.

We are currently waiting for the fees to be collected.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
